Vi.ki

Vi.ki is a website of video wikis, which it calls vikis: encyclopedias about one subject each, every one at its own address under vi.ki, in which key paragraphs carry a timestamped YouTube clip the site calls a moment. On October 23, 2026 it listed 21 vikis, all of them about video games, from Valheim and Aion 2 to Grand Theft Auto 6. Anyone signed in may edit a page, and an admin approves each edit. This article is drawn from Vi.ki's own pages.

Overview

Vi.ki describes itself as a host of video wikis: each is an encyclopedia about one topic, and every key paragraph in it carries a clip that shows what the paragraph says.[2] The site calls one such wiki a viki and gives each its own address of the form name.vi.ki, such as valheim.vi.ki or aion2.vi.ki.[2][4] It sums up the idea as YouTube combined with Wikipedia, contrasting it with wikis that it calls walls of text with a few images and, at most, an embedded video unconnected to the text.[2][7] It names finding the right moments, as timestamps on relevant YouTube videos, as the hardest and most time-consuming part of writing a good video wiki.[2]

Everything in this article comes from Vi.ki's own pages, read on October 23, 2026: its front page, its explanation of how it works, its pricing page, its documentation for developers, its llms.txt file, its first two blog posts and two of its vikis.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] The article cites no other publication, so what it says about the site's features, coverage and plans is the site's own account.

How it works

A viki is one wiki about one subject at its own address, with pages arranged by category, a wall of photos, a search box and a record of every change; every viki is listed on the site's front page.[2] A moment is a timestamped clip of a YouTube video written into a page as a link with a time. It appears as a small chip in the margin beside its paragraph, and a click on it plays that passage in a player docked beside the article, through YouTube's own player and controls. The first moment on a page is the picture the page opens with, and nothing plays until the reader asks.[2]

Photos appear in the text and on each viki's wall, each with a credit, a source and a license shown in the viewer. A signed-in reader can add an image to any page or to the wall, and it waits for an admin before anyone else sees it.[2] The site's footer says that videos are shown through YouTube's player under YouTube's terms of service and remain their uploaders', and that photos are credited one by one.[2]

Editing and license

Every viki is free to read without an account.[4] A reader who signs in with a He.art account gets an Edit button on every page. An edit becomes a pending revision until an admin approves it, while an admin's own edit goes live at once. Every approved revision is kept with the name of the person who made it and a note saying what changed, and any two revisions can be compared word by word.[2] Page text is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0.[2][7]

Coverage

On October 23, 2026 the site listed 21 vikis, all of them about video games.[4][7] They were Aion 2, Ananta, ArcheAge Chronicles, Chrono Odyssey, Civilization 3, Civilization 4, Crimson Desert, Diablo 4, Diablo 5, Enshrouded, Fable, Grand Theft Auto 6, Heroes of Might and Magic 3, Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era, Path of Exile 2, Phantom Blade Zero, Soulframe, Valheim, Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered, World of Warcraft: Forever and Zelda: Ocarina of Time – Remake.[7] The site's developer documentation says that most of its vikis, rather than all, are about games.[6]

The front page sorts the vikis onto two shelves: Upcoming, for games and expansions not yet out, and Launched.[1] Each card gives the viki's page and photo counts; on October 23 the largest were Valheim, with 149 pages and 180 photos, and Aion 2, with 128 pages and 55 photos, while Diablo 5 had 10 pages.[1] According to Vi.ki's blog, the site grew from eleven vikis to 21 between October 20 and October 23, 2026, and some vikis also answer to a shorter address, such as homm3.vi.ki for Heroes of Might and Magic 3 and oot.vi.ki for Ocarina of Time.[5] The blog also says every viki gets a pass twice a day for news and better pages.[5]

  1. Vi.ki lists eleven vikis.[5]
  2. Ten new vikis bring the count to 21, among them Enshrouded, Fable, Diablo 4 and Civilization 3 and 4.[5]
  3. Vi.ki starts a blog, written by the Vi.ki team.[4]

Features

Each viki keeps a timeline of its game's releases and a clock counting down to the next one or up from the last.[4] According to the blog, every game's home page opens with that timeline, each entry with a source and the next announced release marked Coming, and the clock reads from it. Where no date has been announced, the clock shows a best guess marked with a "Best guess" chip that explains how it was reached.[5] On the front page in October 2026, for example, Soulframe and ArcheAge Chronicles carried best guesses of December 2026, and Diablo 5 one of June 2029.[1]

Games on Steam show a chart of their players at the top of their home page, which the blog says uses SteamDB's own numbers and can be panned and zoomed.[4][5] Cards on the front page play their viki's first moment when a pointer rests on them, muted at first, and an "Autoplay video" switch turns the previews off.[5] Each shelf can be sorted by launch, title, the people who read each viki over the last 48 hours, 7 days or 28 days, or the viki's own age, and the front page also lists each viki's most opened pages.[1][5]

Some vikis carry tools of their own. The Aion 2 viki has a build planner and a character check, which imports a player's character from NC's official character pages to show where to focus next, alongside tools for Daevanion boards and builds and for tracking energy, resets and enhancement odds.[4][9] Characters readers have looked up appear on a Characters wall and on boards ranked by item level or Combat Power, which the documentation describes as Vi.ki's own lookups rather than NC's rankings.[6]

Plans

Reading and editing Vi.ki is free; a paid plan lets a subscriber start vikis of their own, where their edits go live at once and they approve or decline what other people add.[3] On October 23, 2026 the pricing page listed three plans: Starter at $9.99 a month for one viki, Premium at $49.99 a month for up to six vikis with up to six helpers each, and Max at $99.99 a month for up to twelve vikis with up to twelve helpers each. A year costs the price of ten months, and Premium starts with a seven-day trial that asks for no card.[3]

A new viki starts unlisted, reachable only by its address, until its owner lists it on the front page and in search engines. If a plan ends, its vikis stay online with every page and photo but are unlisted again, and their edits wait for Vi.ki's own admins.[3] Payment is by card in US dollars through Stripe, which the pricing page says is run for Vi.ki by Heart Photos, and a subscriber keeps ownership of what they write, publishing it under CC BY-SA 4.0.[3]

API and MCP server

Vi.ki runs a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server at vi.ki/mcp so that an AI agent can read every viki as a reader does: its pages, the moment in each video that shows what a paragraph says, and search. The server is read-only, free and needs no key.[6] Its tools list the vikis, return one viki's pages by category, search a viki, and return a page as Markdown with its moments; further tools look up Aion 2 characters and the builds and sourced facts behind the Aion 2 tools.[6]

Each tool is one call to a public JSON API under vi.ki/api/v1/vikis, which anyone may use the same way. The documentation says answers are kept for up to ten minutes and that one address may make 600 tool calls an hour, including at most 120 Aion 2 character lookups.[6] Each viki also has its own llms.txt file describing it for language models.[7]

Blog

Vi.ki started a blog on October 23, 2026, published that day with two posts and an Atom feed.[4][5][7] Its first post says the blog will carry four kinds of post (new vikis, how-tos, behind-the-scenes notes on how a viki is made, and measured notes on changes) and that its posts are written by the Vi.ki team.[4]

Relationship with Heartipedia

The Valheim viki's home page links to Heartipedia's encyclopedia article on Valheim, describing it as the game as a whole in one article, with its development, release, sales and reception and their sources.[8]
