6. Summary
7. Look at the Princess, Part 3: The Maltese Crichton is the thirteenth episode of the second season of Farscape, the science fiction series created by Rockne S. O'Bannon. According to YouTube (Farscape), the episode weighs Crichton's forced marriage to the princess against Scorpius's bid to extract the wormhole knowledge from his mind, while Aeryn Sun comes to terms with what she feels for him.
8. What happens in "Look at the Princess, Part 3: The Maltese Crichton"?
9. The episode opens with Crichton's head sealed inside a stone statue whose acoustics funnel every sound in the chamber to those trapped within it. A character explains that Scorpius has been given until the end of the local solar day to depart the system, and that once he has gone Moya will be allowed to return. From inside the statue, Crichton hears himself described as a collection of self-encapsulated cells, each one preserved as long as the crystallized parts hold their metalized state. He delivers the show's familiar astronaut's monologue, identifying himself as a human shot through a wormhole by a radiation wave and now hunted by Scorpius, the Peacekeeper commander.
10. Outside the statue, a courtier announces that whoever cut off the princess's intended must pay in kind, and forbids anyone in the system from leaving or signaling their ships until the daughter's husband is restored. Scorpius is already in play, and one of his people notes that Crichton's DNA was sampled when he was in the Aurora chair, and that his crystallization was engineered to survive eighty cycles of airborne corrosives. According to YouTube automatic captions, Scorpius himself offers Crichton a deal: he hopes to get him off the planet alive, take what he needs from his mind, and release him unharmed, while Crichton answers that their plans never work out as intended. When Crichton protests, his captor threatens him with a full-on acid attack, pointing out that he is already beginning to pit, and promises that although his body cannot be recovered, the wormhole calculations Crichton carries can.
11. Elsewhere, a captive asks the man who holds them whether he is truly John Crichton and which Sebacean house he belongs to, and is told that if they answer they will have to be killed. A voice calls on Moya to recommission herself and refuses to shut her drive down, begging Crichton and asking how it feels for his prayers to go unanswered. In another sequence, a character talks a companion through a wall climb, urging them to take the offered hand and to draw a deep breath before the climber's leg gives way. Crichton is later told that his present speech is so limited he could not convince a president he is anything more than a head inside a statue.
