What happens in "Twice Shy"?

When the trading vessel stops alongside Moya, John Crichton pays 800 krendars to buy Talika from the visitors, with Rygel producing the money from the crew's shared funds.^[4] After the deal is done, Rygel privately inflates the price he paid for maps by adding a digit, cheating the traders out of their goods by a factor of twelve.^[4] Talika is given a place on the ship and at first behaves like an ordinary passenger.^[4]

Her true purpose on board Moya, as the episode presents it, is to harvest the crew's neural energy.^[1]
