  7. Summary
  8. John Crichton goes in search of a friend with deep knowledge of wormholes. According to YouTube automatic captions, What he finds instead is an alien who has taken on the appearance of his father, an offer of answers about wormhole technology, and a warning about a hostile species that the alien's people are trying to stay ahead of.
  9. Plot
  10. An alien taking the form of Crichton's father summons Crichton to him using a residual mind-link left over from a previous meeting. The alien reveals that Crichton's module was duplicated, and footage is shown of the copy being flown through an unstable wormhole by an unknown creature. He explains that a phase stabilizer fitted to the duplicate makes wormhole travel possible, and that only a handful of people could have built one. The alien suggests that the mechanic Furlow, who earlier had access to Crichton's module, may be the one who constructed a duplicate stabilizer. According to YouTube automatic captions, the alien gives his name as Jack and tells Crichton to keep his existence secret from the "false father image", Scorpius. Jack describes his species, the Ancients, as a dying race that has located a new world, and warns that an unidentified hostile species — referred to in the automatic transcript as "Chariots" — could follow them there using wormhole technology.
