- The crew look for a way to free themselves from the other vessel and get out of the wormhole, while their new allies begin sabotaging Moya and John Crichton picks up what may be a transmission from Earth.
- What happens in "Self-Inflicted Wounds, Part 2: Wait for the Wheel"?
- Inside Moya, one of Nala's rescued crew explains that her people have been frozen in a chamber for twenty-two cycles, and someone identifies a creature seen earlier as one that exists only inside wormholes. Nala tells the crew that the two ships can be separated but only one will survive the maneuver, so a choice has to be made.
- Crichton reports that he has picked up what appears to be an Earth television transmission, and Aeryn Sun asks whether it resembles the Yoda signal from the previous episode. He argues that part of the wormhole lies between ten and forty light years from Earth and that getting home is doable; when Aeryn presses him about a blood trail near one of Nala's people, he counters that even if the creature Mr. Wiggles chewed a limb, no member of Nala's crew was present at the scene. Crichton records a message for Earth, weighing whether to return and warn humanity or stay hidden, and later reveals to Aeryn that he has made seventeen loops through the wormhole and burned out the organic bits on his module while still searching for a way back.
- Meanwhile, the crew begin to suspect that Nala's people are not the rescuers they appear to be. An overheard communication suggests that the hidden sabotage plan is to shut down Moya's thermal condensers and convince the crew to abandon her, and after a final decompress the group decides to act normally around Nala's people while watching for the saboteur rather than tipping them off. Weighing who can be trusted to keep watch, they discuss the loyalties of Rygel XVI and the reliability of Chiana, and Crichton argues that the pattern of decompressions is geographically consistent with someone invisible moving through the ship.
- On tier nine, Aeryn finds an alien girl, half of whom looks bitten by a serpent, and proposes examining the needles embedded in her head. When news of a murder reaches the others, Ka D'Argo insists that the betrayal must be punished, and Zhaan urges him not to lose control for Moya's sake. Someone is stabbed in the leg with an alien needle while the others listen for the saboteur in the dark, and Zhaan summons Rygel to her lab with the alien spikes from the corpse, warning that she will come after him if the injured alien girl dies. Crichton reports that a Hammond level circuit that blew has been taken offline but shows signs that someone invisible was there.
- Nala pushes back on Moya's chances, replying that Moya's will is no substitute for Beersian alloy when crushed by astronomical tidal forces. Crichton is told to stop because he carries no communications device, and his mission will continue until Moya is incapacitated. When the generator reaches full power, the Moya crew discover that they now share the serpent's phase existence until the ships separate.
