What happens in "A Bug's Life"?

After a fuel leak forces a stop, the living ship Moya is boarded by a squad of Peacekeeper commandos whose captain announces a priority Red One mission: to retrieve one crate and return it to Peacekeeper control.[4] Citing article 414 of Peacekeeper law, the commando officer asserts authority over Moya and demands the crew's cooperation.[4] Tensions surface at once when Chiana and Rygel XVI separately reach the crate and agree to split whatever they can take from it.[4]

The crew's masquerade as loyal Peacekeepers collapses when John Crichton openly declares the pretense over, and the once divided crew and commandos have to cooperate to contain the infection and recover the creature.[4] The episode is built around a sealed biological threat, a confined shipboard setting and an uneasy truce between former enemies who now share the same risk.[4]
